The Cause
This year's gala supports the Barry and Bill Battle Building at UVA Children's Hospital. The Battle Building, planned to open in 2013, will consolidate children's outpatient services, making visits more convenient and less stressful for families. Each year, UVA Children's Hospital records nearly 100,000 patient visits, mostly in the outpatient clinics. Here, children are treated for a wide range of conditions including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, cystic fibrosis, genetic defects, and many others. The Battle Building will offer advanced healthcare in a comforting, family-friendly environment.
UVA Children's Hospital is a leading center for children's healthcare in the mid-Atlantic region. We are also home to researchers seeking new treatments for childhood illnesses. Community generosity provides essential support for UVA Children's Hospital and contributes greatly to the health of children across our region.
