Surgical Procedures

The Pediatric Surgery Division, the Department of Surgery, the University of Virginia Children's Hospital and the University of Virginia Health System provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care of surgical diseases in children ranging from premature infants to adolescents. Each physician in divisions have completed a full residency in General Surgery and an additional two years of training in Pediatric Surgery and is certified in Pediatric Surgery and General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. The nurse clinicians, Martha Kiker, Martha Wheeler, and Janice McCormick provide comprehensive attention to patient care questions in conjunction with the surgeons, and coordinate scheduling of operative cases and clinic appointments
