The UVa Children’s Hospital offers the region’s only comprehensive healthcare environment dedicated to children's needs. Our facilities include intensive and acute care inpatient units, the region's most sophisticated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, outpatient services, a pediatric emergency room and a children’s rehabilitation center. UVa is a member of NACHRI, a national organization which promotes the health and well-being of children and their families through support of children's hospitals and health systems that are committed to excellence in providing healthcare to children.
We understand children have unique requirements ranging from how their condition is diagnosed and treated to special surgical instrumentation and anesthesia prior to surgery. Our 500-plus clinicians are specially focused on caring for children. Most have additional training in their area of expertise, such as cardiology, neurology, neurosurgery, transplantation, pulmonology, digestive disorders and reconstructive surgery.
