Breast Cancer Quality Indicators
Availability of Clinical Trials
Studies of promising new or experimental treatments or therapies in patients are known as clinical trials. Clinical trials are overseen by the government, under the auspices of the Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration and others. Published results of past trials for breast cancer are regularly posted and available online at the National Cancer Institute Website.
Does UVa participate in clinical trials for breast cancer?
Yes. In fact, part of our mandate as an NCI Cancer Center is to advance the standard of care for cancer by both developing new clinical trails and participating in large national trials.
