Youthful Brain Initiative Projects:
Hearing
Gwenaëlle Géléoc, PhD

In my laboratory we study the functional development the inner ear sensory epithelium to comprehend the etiology of congenital auditory and vestibular disorders.
We study, in particular, the developmental expression of genes which when mutated can be lethal to the sensory cells that detect head motions and sound waves entering the ear.Using various tools we are making attempts to repair these genes.
Jeffrey Holt, PhD
My laboratory is interested in hearing and deafness.
In particular, we focus on
1) the genetics of age-related hearing loss and
2) development of gene therapy strategies to treat deafness and balance disorders.
