Promotion & Tenure (UVA School of Medicine)

The regular P&T cycle begins each Spring and lasts approximately 14 months.  The Department Chair requests promotion and/or award of tenure, and all requests are reviewed by the Department, School of Medicine, and University.  The promotion and tenure process has a strict timeline based Provost's Office deadlines.  It is important for chairs and candidates fto be familiar with the schedule and process.

Each department has a designated contact person responsible for entering all candidate and referee data into the P&T data entry system (see data system entrance below).  This person coordinates the P&T process with the Dean's Office.
