Program In Ethics and Policy |
The Program for Ethics and Policy in Health Care is part of the University of Virginia's Center for Biomedical Ethics and Humanities and is supported by the Dean of the University of Virginia School of Medicine. The Program is devoted to helping those in the public policy sector who are charged with making decisions to respond to the challenges facing healthcare systems through initiatives in research and education. The Program serves the various entities shown below. Hallmarks of the program include its interdisciplinary approach to research and education and emphasis upon using translational /empirical research to inform public policy. Educational offerings are all taught by interdisciplinary faculty and include medical school electives, continuing education for physicians and students, and a unique leadership program for undergraduates or recent college graduates who intend to pursue a professional career involving healthcare in medicine, law, business, or nursing. To our knowledge, there are no entities undertaking non-pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry sponsored research that have undertaken this mission.
