Why use an insulin pump to manage diabetes?
People who use more than 1 type of insulin to manage diabetes are often unable to keep blood sugars within target ranges without significant blood sugar swings. Insulin pump therapy may offer greater control over insulin delivery and blood sugar results.
Am I a candidate for insulin pump therapy?
If you use insulin to manage your diabetes can test blood sugars 4 to 8 times daily and learn to adjust your insulin doses you may be a candidate for pump therapy. Speak with your physician if you are interested in the insulin pump.
How can I be evaluated for insulin pump therapy?
If your physician thinks you may be a candidate he or she may send a referral to the Diabetes Education & Management Program so that we may schedule you for an appointment to learn more about pump therapy.
