Welcome Faculty and StaffUVA Health System faculty and staff make gifts for clinical programs, medical and nursing research, scholarships, fellowships, professorships, and other critical needs. Some give to honor colleagues or memorialize patients. Retirees often create gift legacies to support their department or center. By contributing to the Health System, you make a powerful difference right at home. And, through your example, you encourage others. |

UVa Neurologist Creates Lectureship to Salute Her Mother
In 1941, a bright young woman was offered a remarkable opportunity to study medicine at UVa. Lenora V. Brown, M.D., chose to pursue an impressive career in neurology, helping numerous patients and conducting important research. When she died in 2003, her daughter, Virginia Simnad, M.D., made a family gift to create a lectureship in the Department of Neurology in her mother's honor.
"My mother had a tremendous love for the University of Virginia," says Simnad, a neurologist herself who practices at UVa. "I saw the lectureship as an avenue for fulfilling my mother's goals and expressing her affection for UVa."
