Kawasaki DiseaseNancy McDaniel M.D.Kawasaki disease is an illness which has many days of high fever, swelling of the lymph nodes (glands), rashes (mostly hands, feet, diaper area, lips and mouth) and redness of the eyes along with irritability. This usually affects children between 6 months and 4 years. The cause is not known. Kawasaki disease can cause swellings or aneurysms of the large arteries of the heart (coronary arteries). Sometimes medicine can prevent the aneurysms. Many of the aneurysms get better with time. Most children return to normal after Kawasaki disease.
